Teaching Technical Aspects of Diving

The technical Aspects of Diving module covers diving equipment, compressors and Nitrox installations. Dive professionals must have a solid basis in the technical aspects of diving. The training takes four days. After successful completion, the instructor is authorized to teach the equipment, compressor and Nitrox fills courses.

Teaching Scuba Guides

The Teaching Scuba Guides module is a training programme to prepare Scuba Instructors to organise and conduct training for guiding divers. In essence it is an introduction to a new type of teaching which allows comprehension of the difference between objectivist and constructivist learning processes. Scuba Guides take responsibility for other people. To assume that responsibility they must adapt to circumstances. This two day module is meant for that purpose. After successful completion, the instructor is allowed to teach the Guiding Divers module.

Teaching Environmental Aspects of Diving

The environmental aspects of diving module is about the relationships between the physical, chemical and biological aspects of the underwater environment. The training takes three days. The course is essential for all scuba professionals. In part because of the additional programmes they can be allowed to teach, but mostly because the increased knowledge of the underwater environment allows them to live up to diver expectations. After successful completion, instructors are authorized to teach the naturalist, research and scuba-eco.

Teaching Practical Courses

The module for teaching practical courses provides input on techniques for deep diving, navigation and search and recovery. It allows instructors to teach interesting and rewarding practical courses. Most of the course takes place in open water, but there are some theoretical aspects as well. The programme takes three days. After successful completion, instructors are authorized to teach deep diver, navigation and search & recovery courses.

As an alternative we can teach this programme as a PADI Specialty Instructor Course.

Teaching Underwater Imaging

Photography is an important skill for all diving professionals. Pictures are needed for internet pages, brochures and other purposes. Taking pictures of students in beginner courses can be an important aspect of the marketing strategy of a diving operation and courses in underwater photography are popular. For end-users, there can be a demand for a course for taking snapshots of an acceptable quality, or a desire to really learn the “ins and outs” of underwater photography. In the three day course, instructors learn all aspects of photography for both automatic and manual settings and will be authorized to teach both automatic and manual photography.

Teaching Abstract Theory

An understanding of abstract theory is needed to respond quickly and correctly to questions from students. As Assistant Scuba Instructors are in a position to answer such questions, participation in the respective module is required. The programme for teaching abstract theory prepares instructors to teach that module. During training, parts of abstract theory are taught, followed by a discussion of the approach that was taken to relay the information. The programme takes two days. After successful completion, instructors can teach the abstract theory module and the electronic diving instruments programme.

Advanced Scuba Instructor and Master Scuba Instructor

The completion of any two of the above modules can qualify Scuba Instructors for the certification as Advanced Scuba Instructor (take note of additional requirements in your Instructor Manual). For the rating of Master Scuba Instructor, all modules must have been completed (in addition to other requirements).
